The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), through the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), proposed new policies in the 2025 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (PFS) that will strengthen support for family caregivers. The National Alliance for Caregiving President and CEO Jason Resendez released the following statement in response to this exciting development:

“We commend CMS and the Biden-Harris Administration for their increasing recognition of the vital role family caregivers play in healthcare, as demonstrated by new proposed rules to strengthen caregiver training services in Medicare.

“Millions of family caregivers face immense challenges in providing care for their loved ones, often lacking sufficient training and support. CMS’s proposed changes to the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule for 2025 represent continued progress in addressing these unmet needs by improving access to training. NAC and our network have long championed these changes and we look forward to our continued collaboration with CMS and the family caregiver community to make them a reality.”
